Hello SHC Blog
Dr. Chenelle Grant, DNP, FNP-BC, AAHIVS
Every year on December 1st, the world comes together to recognize World AIDS Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about HIV, celebrating progress, remembering those we’ve lost, and reaffirming our commitment to ending the epidemic. At Simple Healthcare, we see World AIDS Day as more than a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder that knowledge, prevention, and community action save lives.
Why World AIDS Day Matters
HIV remains a serious public health issue. According to the latest data from New York State, certain communities — including young people, LGBTQ+ individuals, and communities of color — continue to face higher rates of infection. World AIDS Day is a moment to spotlight these disparities, break down stigma, and remind everyone that HIV is preventable and treatable.
How You Can Get Involved
There are many ways to make an impact, whether it’s through awareness, education, or support:
- Get Tested: Knowledge of your status is the first step in prevention and treatment. At Simple Healthcare, we provide at-home HIV testing kits, mobile lab draws, and telehealth consultations, so you can test discreetly and safely.
- Educate Yourself and Others: Talk openly about HIV, prevention, and safe sexual practices. Share resources with friends, family, and social networks.
- Support Local Organizations: Many organizations are on the front lines providing education, prevention, and care services. Partnering with them strengthens the community and amplifies the impact of your involvement.
- Donate: Your contribution can help Simple Healthcare expand access to sexual health services across Long Island and New York. Donations support testing, prevention programs, and community outreach for those most in need. Visit www.helloshc.com/donate to make a difference today.
Partners Making a Difference
We are proud to work alongside organizations that share our mission:
- Suffolk County EOC (Educational Opportunity Council): Providing essential support services to individuals living with HIV, including case management, housing advocacy, and community outreach.
- LGBT Network: A leading advocacy and support organization dedicated to LGBTQ+ individuals and communities affected by HIV. They provide testing, education, and prevention programs.
You can find additional partners and resources listed on our website at www.helloshc.com. Collaborating with these organizations allows us to expand reach, reduce disparities, and provide care where it’s most needed.
